Crossword Craze generates crossword puzzles using vocabulary terms from the assigned jam, with definitions serving as clues. Students read a definition clue, figure out which vocabulary term it describes, and type the answer into the crossword grid. Letters shared between crossing words provide helpful hints and create satisfying "aha" moments when two answers intersect.

Crossword puzzles have been used in education for over a century because they combine multiple cognitive skills: reading comprehension (understanding the clue), vocabulary recall (identifying the term), spelling (entering the correct letters), and logical deduction (using crossing letters to narrow down possibilities). Crossword Craze brings this proven format into the Jamify ecosystem with curriculum-aligned content.

Each puzzle is algorithmically generated from the jam vocabulary, ensuring that every across and down clue relates to the current learning material. The generation algorithm prioritizes intersections -- places where two words share a letter -- because these crossing points provide natural scaffolding. A student who knows one word can use its shared letters to help solve an intersecting word they find more challenging.

Crossword Craze includes a progressive hint system. Students can request a "letter reveal" that fills in one letter of the current clue. This costs points but prevents students from getting completely stuck.
